I went to Tokyo about 2 years ago and I loved Tokyo Tower! Very fun, and while I am not religious I went to numerous shrines... The most tourist-friendly was the Golden Shrine; but most are open to the public. Getting a tour guide is key, as there's a lot of history in a very dense area because, well, it is Tokyo after all!
